When analysing the discrepancies (L, etc.) between the observed time lag parameters (La, etc.) and the calculated ideal values (La, etc.), one must take into account possible contributions from causes other than dependence of S, DT on X. Analysis of the case of simultaneous dependence of S, Dx on X and t shows that 4 135>... [Pg.133]

Diffusional behavior of sorbed species is studied by NMR using one of three approaches the van Vleck method of moments, relaxation measurements, and the pulsed-field-gradient method. An example of the use of the method of moments is the work of Stevenson (194) on H resonances in zeolite H-Y (see Section III,K). Another is the study by Lechert and Wittem (284) of C6H6 and C6H3D3 adsorbed on zeolite Na-X. Analysis of second moments of H resonances allowed the intra- and intermolecular contributions to the spectra to be extracted. Similarly, second moments of H and 19F spectra of cyclohexane, benzene, fluorobenzene, and dioxane on Na-X provided information about orientation of molecules within zeolitic cavities (284-287). [Pg.305]

Figure 3. Illustration of the EXAFS and A x analysis procedures. Energy alignment is critical in the difference technique and it is needed to eliminate the slight wandering in photon energy that exists in any photon beam coming from a synchrotron. The Pt Lm foil spectra taken simultaneously with each sample run are aligned and then the actual sample spectra are shifted by the exact same energy required to align the foil spectra. Figure 3. Table X. Analysis of the octalins (Table VIII) from the partial saturation of naphthalene on a ruthenium catalyst showed that the ratio of A > -octalin to A i -octalin closely approximated the random 4/1 and was perhaps 30 times the equilibrium ratio. Similarly, the ratio of cis-Ai> -octalin to cis-A. s-octalin was close to the random 2 to 1. However, the ratios of octalins with external double bonds (Ai>2- and A > -) to those with internal double bonds (Ai - and A i -) were lower than random. The rates of saturation of the octalins with more-exposed double bonds... Table X. Figure . The automaled output from measurement of repeat numbers in Fragile X analysis. The three traces represent hel-erozygote, homozygote, and N-r I heterozygote. The peak marked ApoE is a check that the PCR has run adequately and the other peaks are the sizing ladder. This technique is readily extended to other conditions involving this sort of dynamic repeat expansion. Figure . The automaled output from measurement of repeat numbers in Fragile X analysis. As was the case for the DP isotherms, Eq. (170) was used to simulate the energy and pore size distributions. For the nitrogen adsorption, about 55% of the adsorbate is in micropores whereas for argon 90% is in micropores according to the % analysis. The Toth analysis indicated nearly identical surface areas using either N2 and Ar, whereas the % analysis indicates the surface area with the N2 was less than with Ar. These conclusions from the X analysis are quite possible since the N2 molecule is about 10% larger than the Ar atom. In addition to fewer molecules be packed into the micropores, some of the micropores available for Ar adsorption may not be available to N2. [Pg.154]
