Systems which are deployed nationally often contain the records of entire populations. Not only are databases large but the number of transactions each day may reach many thousands or even millions. In these goliath applications hazards which are considered incredible for individual transactions may be triggered several times a day when that likelihood is multiplied by real-world volumes. At the other end of the scale, small departmental clinical systems may only contain the records of a few hundred patients perhaps with a few dozen transactions per day. Whilst this somewhat over-simplified contributor to risk evaluation takes no account of the potential clinical impact of those systems, it still provides a starting point for establishing a high-level assessment. [Pg.211]

The largest world volume of production. It attaches especially great importance to the solution of the task of optimal designing of petroleum refining units. [Pg.312]

The research began as an exploration of new routes to a variety of aromatic amines that would not rely on the use of halogenated intermediates or reagents. Of particular interest was the identification of novel synthetic strategies to 4-aminodiphenylamine (4-ADPA), a key intermediate in the Rubber Chemicals family of antidegradants. The total world volume of antidegradants based on 4-ADPA and related materials is approximately 300 million pounds per year, of which Flexsys is the world s largest producer. [Pg.30]

Automotive is by far the largest market for PPO/PPE blends, representing 52% of total world volume in 2002. Automotive is a growing market for PPO/PPE blends, with particularly good prospects for exterior, and to a lesser extent, interior applications. Some of the major suppliers, most notably GE Plastics, are very active in promoting the use of their Noryl product range and have developed new and improved grades in recent years. [Pg.72]

Automotive is by far the largest market for polyetherimide, representing 50% of total world volume in 2002. Polyetherimide usage in automotive applications has been increasing in recent years due to its replacement of metal, thermosets and bulk moulding compounds (BMC). There is still scope for further use of PEI in car electrical and under-the-boimet applications, which will underpin good growth prospects. [Pg.76]

Automotive is one of the smallest markets for LCP, representing just 5% of total world volume in 2002. [Pg.80]

Automotive is the largest market for PEEK pol5miers accounting for 41% of total world volume in 2002. PEEK is one of the leading high-performance plastics that are replacing metal for under-the-bonnet applications. [Pg.81]

World-Volume.—Regarded as a four-dimensional system, man is an organism occupying a certain amormt of space—which, during most of his life, is about 70 litres—for a certain number of years— usually 66-70. By multiplying these values a new quantity, the world-volume, or stereochrone, is obtained which expresses the history of the organism. The world-volume of the human subject is about 5,000 litre-years,... [Pg.3]
