As shown in Figure 71 A, conventional pigments interact with light by absorption and/or diffuse scattering (see Section 1.3). Luster pigments comprise nacreous pigments (Section 5.3.1) and metal effect pigments (Section 5.3.2).

Active pigments are anticorrosives with a chemical and/or electrochemical action. They are also described in the literature as inhibitive pigments. These pigments interact chemically, either directly or via intermediates with the metal substrate to reduce the rate of corrosion. Such intermediates can, for example, be formed by reaction with the resin system. 

Figure 21 shows the two boundaries of the pigment layer. Chi are the chlorophyll molecules in some array, perhaps including carotenoids. The first act of photosynthesis is the absorption of the quantum by the chlorophyll molecule to produce an excited chlorophyll molecule. If this were a perfect atomic lattice, this would be an absorption by the entire lattice, but this is not the case. It is a molecular lattice in which the interactions between molecules are relatively small compared with the interactions between atoms in an ionic lattice. 

Clofazimine is used cautiously in patients with gastrointestinal disorders, diarrhea, and during pr nancy (Ptegnancy Cat iy C) and lactation. If clofazimine is used during pr nancy, the infant may be bom with pigmented skin. No significant dmg dmg interactions are associated with the use of clofazimine. 

The DuPont product is named Viton FreeFlow SC and RC and, unlike earlier types of fluoropolymer additives, they can be mixed into many pigmented masterbatches, with less interaction. The Dyneon grades are marketed as Dynamar PPA. The latest fluorocarbons comply with most world food contact legislation. 

As well as improved output, processors gain extended use of equipment and greater flexibility in speed, temperature, pressure, and gauge control, with a wider choice of blend ratios. There is less downtime for cleaning die apertures and start-up is also easier. The latest types can also be mixed into many pigmented masterbatches with less interaction.
