Wireless technology and communications fundamentals require an understanding of how analogue and digital information are prepared for transmission, how the transmission actually takes place, and how the receiving equipment converts the delivered data into usahle information. 

In the United States, most of the wireless technology and communications development has taken place in private industry. To a smaller extent, government, especially the military and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and universities have contributed to wireless technology and communications development. In other countries, especially Europe, there has been support for wireless technology and communications development in industry, universities, and the government. 

Research and development in wireless technology and communications has not slowed down since these early days, with a long list of contributors, including Motorola, Raytheon, Verizon, Gisco, Intel, and many others. Eor example, in 1964, Amar Bose, an electrical engineering professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, founded Bose Gorpora-tion and has since become a leader in loudspeaker research. 

There are a wide variety of positions for those seeking careers in wireless technolog) and communications. Some go into hardware design of mobile wireless devices for companies such as Apple, Intel, and Cisco, while others go to work as wireless network managers for companies such as Verizon and AT T. Some develop wireless software, such as those used in Microsoft s Windows Mobile 7, Apple s iOS, and Google s Android still others take jobs in manufacturing to build microwaves and infrared saunas.
