Medium- to heavy-density mineral wool mat with wire netting or expanded metal mechanically secured on one or both sides. Mattress-type products are used for irregular-shaped surfaces and on large pipes and vessels. It is also used as large-cavity fire barriers. 

We have developed a compact photocatalytic reactor [1], which enables efficient decomposition of organic carbons in a gas or a liquid phase, incorporating a flexible and light-dispersive wire-net coated with titanium dioxide. Ethylene was selected as a model compound which would rot plants in sealed space when emitted. Effects of the titanium dioxide loading, the ethylene concentration, and the humidity were examined in batches. Kinetic analysis elucidated that the surface reaction of adsorbed ethylene could be regarded as a controlling step under the experimental conditions studied, assuming the competitive adsorption of ethylene and water molecules on the same active site. 

Fig.3 shows an effect of titanium dioxide loading on the decomposition of ethylene over a 20mesh wire-net photocatalyst. The decomposition rate increased in proportion to the amount of titanium dioxide loaded The specific initial rate (ro=(-dc/dt)t=o) was (1.8 0.2)x 10 ppm s g-catalysf. ...

The photocatalytic activity of 20mesh wire-net photocatalyst was observed to be nearly equal to that of 350mesh one under the same amount of titanium dioxide loading (1.88 g). 

Four posts, some wire netting, and a slatted wooden front make a simple, inexpensive bin. 

The wire net is the most commonly used net type. When there are multiple drivers driving a wire net, the outputs of the drivers are shorted together. Here is an example. 

The roots are often surrounded hy wire netting when the tree is planted. This wire netting only provides protection in the first year and possibly in the second year. After that the roots have already grown out through the netting. 

The receptor mechanism involved in cell uptake of lipids from blood in the form of LDL (low-density lipoprotein) has been revealed by the work of Brown and Goldstein [71]. When the lipoprotein is boimd to the receptor, a "coated" pit deepens and buds off to form a "coated" vesicle inside the cell (endocytosis). The "coat" represents a general principle of cell transport that is known mainly from the work by Bretscher [72]. The protein forming this coat is clathrin, which aggregates into planar network (or basket-like cages, morphologically similar to "mesh" phases of lipids or surfactants in water, cf. Chapter 4) and the lipid bilayer can span these nets, like a soap film spanning a wire net.
