C04-0121. Lithopone, a brilliant white pigment used in paints, paper, and white rubber products, is a mixture of two insoluble Ionic solids, ZnS and BaSOq. Suggest how 1.0 kg of lithopone could be prepared by a precipitation reaction. [Pg.272]

Application in rubber blends, which used to be an important market for P.R.4, has suffered from increasingly stringent requirements. P.R.4 bleeds considerably during curing into overlaid white rubber sheets, while it hardly bleeds into the fabric backing (Sec. 1.8.3.6). [Pg.279]

One person assumed himself to be the reincarnation of Rasputin another, who was a refugee from the inner circles of the Hari Krishna cult and wore white robes and white rubber rain boots, was the reincarnation of Erwin Rommel. The burning-eyed leader of this whole group was Solo. He had been Ev s companion for four years. [Pg.21]

The reaction vessel is a 125-mL filter flask with a white rubber pipette bulb wired onto the side arm (Fig. 1). Introduce 10 mL of water, 1 mL of platinum(IV) chloride solution, and 0.5 g of decolorizing charcoal and swirl during addition of 3 mL of stabilized 1 M sodium borohydride solu-... [Pg.505]

Let us consider white-sidewall tires. These are formed by placing a layer of white rubber over a carcass of dark rubber. Under normal conditions, molecules of color in the carcass migrate and bleed through to stain the white-sidewall. This staining can be prevented by incorporating activated carbon in carcass rubber. Then the colored molecules will migrate only until they reach a particle of activated carbon, whereupon they become adsorbed and anchored. [Pg.13]

There are two forms of titanium dioxide used in rubber anatas and rutile types that differ in crystalhne structure. An anatase-type titanium oxide pigmented vulcanizate can have an outstanding (bluish) white color, while most rutile titanium dioxides give a cream-colored white rubber vulcanizate. However, rutile types have 20 percent more covering power than do anatas types. Also, rutile types give the more fight- and weather-resistant vulcanizates. Nevertheless, anatas types are used where a more nearly pure white material is required. [Pg.287]

The objective of this laboratory study was to evaluate several new antioxidants versus two control antioxidants in a natural rubber/polybutadiene-based white rubber compound. The results showed several new antioxidants were developed with improved heat resistance, colour properties and economics over traditional control antioxidants. [Pg.43]
