Wheel attachment

Nineteen bone samples were prepared for analysis of the trace elements strontium (Sr), rubidium (Rb), and zinc (Zn). The outer surface of each bone was removed with an aluminum oxide sanding wheel attached to a Dremel tool and the bone was soaked overnight in a weak acetic acid solution (Krueger and Sullivan 1984, Price et al. 1992). After rinsing to neutrality, the bone was dried then crushed in a mill. Bone powder was dry ashed in a muffle furnace at 700°C for 18 hours. Bone ash was pressed into pellets for analysis by x-ray fluorescence spectrometry. Analyses were carried out in the Department of Geology, University of Calgary.

Flow control loops are designed to maintain constant retention times by providing constant flow delivery from the pump, commonly by the use of an encoder wheel attached to the main motor drive. The encoder accurately measures the rotation of the motor extremely accurately to parts-of-a-degree of rotation, and it regulates the motor revolutions to as constant a value as possible. In a well-maintained pumping system, a constant motor speed will deliver a constant flow for a given solvent. In modem pumps a flow control loop is often combined with a pressure loop, to provide both...

The head consists of a spindle which has a 40-tooth worm wheel attached to it. Meshing with this is a single start worm on a spindle which has a crank and handle attached and which projects from the front of the head (Fig.

A more insidious problem results from improper use of a control valve hand jack. The hand jack is a wheel attached to a control valve that can be manually used to move the valve. There is an indicator on the hand jack showing whether it is being used to open or close the control valve. Normally, the hand jack should be in the neutral position. In this position, it is disengaged from the control valve. 

Devise an ingenious, over-compUcated solution, often with very fundamental design flaws (e.g., wheels attached directly to DC motOTS without any gearing).
