Wetting agents docusate sodium

Docusate sodium is both a surface-active agent for use as a fecal softener, and a wetting agent in industrial, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and food apphcations. [Pg.202]

These include liquid paraffin (contraindicated if there is any risk of aspiration), and docusate sodium which is an emulsifying and wetting agent. [Pg.190]

The wetting agent, polysorbate 80 (not more than 0.1-0.2% w/v of the final concentration), is dissolved in approximately half the final volume of aqueous vehicle. An anionic surfactant, such as Docusate Sodium USP, may be used as a wetting agent. This agent is, however, sensitive to pH and electrolyte concentration. [Pg.3603]

Addition of wetting agents such as sodium lauryl sulfate or sodium docusate can assist this water penetration by lowering the surface tension, and they are often used in conjunction with hydrophobic lubricants such as magnesium stearate (see the article on Tablet Disintegrants and Disintegration in this encyclopedia). [Pg.3661]

Docusate sodium 0.5-1 Acts primarily as a wetting agent... [Pg.3662]
