Granulation, wet

In 2005, Rantanen et al. used on-line NIRS to monitor a laboratory-scale high shear wet granulation process. The study was a central-composite circumscribed design consisting of 17 runs and 3 variables  [Pg.447]

The above-mentioned on-line spectroscopic techniques have involved granulation monitoring for particle size assessments and end-point control however there are other concerns involved with wet granulation which include polymorphic transformations or solvate formation that can affect end product quality.  [Pg.448]

Given that the introduction of solvent obviously produces wet granules, the wet granulation process includes a drying step. Drying typically occurs in a fluid bed dryer. But there are other options, such as microwave vacuum dryers. In 1994, White applied on-line NIRS to monitor moisture content and predict drying end point in two TK Fielder microwave dryers. The NIR spectral data were correlated to off-line Karl Fischer measurements which resulted in a standard error of prediction equal to 0.6% when the samples [Pg.448]

Bulk density is easily measured from the volume occupied by the bulk solid and is a strong func tion of sample preparation. True density is measured by standard techniques using liquid or gas picnometry Apparent (agglomerate) density is difficult to measure directly. Hink-ley et al. [Int. ]. Min. Proc., 41, 53-69 (1994)] describe a method for measuring the apparent density of wet granules by kerosene displacement. Agglomerate density may also be inferred from direcl measurement of true density and porosity using Eq. (20-42). [Pg.1877]

For successful tableting, a material must have suitable flow properties to allow it to be fed to the tableting machine. Wet or dry granulation is used to improve the flow properties of materials. In the case of wet granulation, agitative granulation techniques such as fluidized beds or mixer granulators as discussed above are often employed. [Pg.1900]

In wet granulation experiments, dried Ti02 particles were fed into the cylindrical air distributor (vessel), then the air distributor rotated and fluidization air was supplied. After a predetermined amount of binder liquid was sprayed, drying of products was conducted. [Pg.486]

In order to tailor the physical properties of nano-particles, wet granulation was conducted. Hydroxypropylecellulose (HPC-L) 5% aqueous solution was sprayed onto nano-sized Ti02 particles through a binary nozzle. Fluidization air velocity was set at approximately 1.5 times as large as the minimum fluidization air velocity. [Pg.487]

Enzymes. Where tablets are not naturally very cohesive and have thus been manufactured by a wet granulation process involving one of the binders listed in Table 8, addition of small quantities of appropriate enzyme may be sufficient to produce rapid disintegration. It has also been proposed that disintegration action might result from expansion of the entrapped air due to generation of heat of wetting when the tablet is placed in a fluid. This concept has received little attention. [Pg.304]

The benefits of hydrophilization can be expected whenever powders are wet granulated with typical... [Pg.370]

The phase composition of glycine crystal forms during the drying step of a wet granulation process has been studied, and a model developed for the phase conversion reactions [88], X-ray powder diffraction was used for qualitative analysis, and near-infrared spectroscopy for quantitative analysis. It was shown that when glycine was wet granulated with microcrystalline cellulose, the more rapidly the granulation... [Pg.274]
