Feldspars weather directly to ionic components by hydrolysis and H attack however, secondary minerals may form as products of the weathering reaction, depending on the chemical environment in the soil. In a closed system where feldspar is not exposed to acidity generated within or outside the soil, hydrolysis is the dominant reaction, producing an alkaline solution ... 

Where uranium i.s derived from the components of a granitic rock it may weather directly from the intrusive and be carried in solution into adjacent sediments, or it may pass through an intermediate step by forming an arkosic granite wash near the edge of the basin. In either case at least one erosional cycle is required to free the uranium from a large source for subsequent concentration. 

Ship-shaped FPSOs must be designed to weather vane i.e. must have the ability to rotate in the direction of wind or current. This requires complex mooring systems and the connections with the well heads must be able to accommodate the movement. The mooring systems can be via a single buoy or, in newer vessels designed for the harsh environments of the North Sea, via an internal or external turret. Figure 10.33 shows a schematic of the Shell-BP Foinaven FPSO. 

PVA fiber ropes are widely used in fishing and on ships, because of excellent weather resistance, coiling property, ease of handling, twist stabihty, etc. For this purpose spun yams obtained directly from tow by the Pedok spinning system are used. 

Economic Market. The spice trade is controlled by many direct elements and responds slowly to supply and demand fluctuations. Textile finishing encompasses a broad range of approaches and may be directed toward needed properties such as shrinkage control or smooth-dry performance or toward developing properties for specific end uses such as flame retardance, soil release, smolder resistance, weather resistance, or control of static charges. 

STAR The STAR program summarizes National Weather Services (NWS) meteorological data, by generating joint frequencies of 6 wind speeds, 16 wind directions, and 6 stability categories for the station and time period desired.
