Water weathering

FWWMR Finish. The abbreviation for fire, water, weather, and mildew resistance, FWWMR, has been used to describe treatment with a chlorinated organic metal oxide. Plasticizers, coloring pigments, fiUers, stabilizers, or fungicides usuaUy are added. However, hand, drape, flexibUity, and color of the fabric are more affected by this type of finish than by other flame retardants. Add-ons of up to 60% are required in many cases to obtain... [Pg.486]

Open Tanks These may be used to store materials that will not be harmed by water, weather, or atmospheric pollution. Otherwise, a roof, either fixed or floating, is required. Fixed roofs are usually either domed or coned. Large tanks have coned roofs with intermediate supports. Since negligible pressure is involved, snow and wind are the principal design loads. Local building codes often give required values. [Pg.1016]

Whether the plume is being sought in air or water, weather conditions will definitely affect the formation of the plumes. Appropriate scheduling holds promise for more success. [Pg.100]

The dominance of carbonate hydrolysis, carbo-nation, and sulfide oxidation in subglacial weathering reactions on aluminosilicate/silicate bedrock is also found on carbonate bedrock. However, the balance between carbonate dissolution and sulfide oxidation depends on the spatial distribution of sulfides in the bedrock and basal debris (Fairchild et al., 1999). Noncongruent dissolution of strontium and magnesium from carbonate is also observed in high rock water weathering environments, such as the distributed drainage systems, in which water flow is also low (Fairchild et al., 1999). [Pg.2455]

When can we say that a product s life has finally ended Bridges must not fall down. They must remain safe to use, more specifically, despite the stresses and the external weathering they experience over decades. They must not become too expensive to maintain. Fibre reinforced plastics (FRP) boats are exposed to several hostile forces - water, weather, repetitive wave action and occasional impact. The chief concern is again structural integrity, but most small boats also have cosmetic appeal to their owners, and the cost of maintaining pristine appearance, free from worrying defects, must also be considered. [Pg.3]
