Wastewater treatment operating principle

Hamilton Standard of the U.S. EPA has reported several coil coating plants wastewater treatment case histories.8,9 A full-scale wastewater treatment plant system has performed well for treatment of the wastewater generated from coil coating steel subcategory operations. The process principles and operational data of the full-scale treatment of a steel subcategory wastewater are summarized herein for the convenience of readers ... [Pg.287]

UV germicide mechanisms are introduced. Basic principles of UV disinfection system design, installation, and operation considerations are presented. The concern about UV disinfection by-products is also discussed. In addition, the mechanisms of UV oxidation are addressed. Its applications on organic pollutants decomposing as an emerging water and wastewater treatment technology are discussed. [Pg.321]

Study of transport processes of momentum, heat, and mass and selected unit operations. Only the elementary sections of Part 1 (the principles chapters—2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7) are covered, plus selected unit operations topics in Part 2 applicable to a particular field in a two-semester or three-quarter course. Those in wastewater treatment engineering, food process engineering, and process metallurgy could follow this plan. [Pg.934]

This chapter provides a state-of-the-art review of HFMST including a general review of hollow fiber membrane contactors, operating principles, design consideration, commercial availability of hollow fiber membrane, and module for scale-up and large-scale studies. Application of HFMST in pharmaceutical, biotechnological, gas absorption and stripping, wastewater treatment, and few latest studies of metal ion extraction are described in detail. [Pg.94]

The sensitivity to pH is another aspect not always considered. Homogeneous Fenton processes need to operate in a narrow pH range (2.5. 0) and this is a main process issue, as it requires the addition of large amounts of salts to the wastewater for pH control. The use of solid Fenton-type catalysts allows, in principle, operation at natural pH, without the need to adjust the pH, with better process economics. In addition, solid Fenton-type catalysts avoid the need for precipitation of iron and remove the iron sludges after treatment. This is a relevant process issue, especially when the operation is a pre-treatment before further stages such as biological treatments. [Pg.279]
