Washing. Washing removes dispersed ink particles from the pulp slurry (23). This process is comparable to home laundering in many ways. [Pg.8]

Wash. Wash is the hquid obtained by fermenting wort with yeast. It contains the beverage spitits and congeners developed during fermentation. [Pg.80]

Cake Washing Wash efficiency data are most conveniently represented by a semilog plot of percent remaining B as a function of wash ratio N as shown in Fig. 18-103. Percent remaining refers to that portion of the solute in the dewatered but unwashed cake which is left in the washed and dewatered cake. Since a cake-washing operation... [Pg.1700]

Verwandtschafts-einheit, /. unit of affinity, valence, -lehre, /. doctrine of affinity. Verwarmung, /. absorption (of heat), verwaschen, v.t. wash, wash out. — p.a. washed out, faded indistinct, blurred, vague. — verwaschenes Gut, (Mining) middlings. Verwaschenheit, /. washed-out or faded state, indistinctness. [Pg.489]

Washed tetryl should not contain more than 0.015% of acid (calculated as H2S04). If the acidity is higher, the product is given an additional wash. Washed tetryl crystallizes into yellow or reddish-yellow crystals. [Pg.59]

After soil washing wash water could be reintroduced into the CHEMFIX process later for hydration purposes thus eliminating the need for any post-washing water treatment. [Pg.371]

Washing. Washing with water-detergent combinations or with solvents can be used to remove surface contamination from environmental samples such as fruits or plants or from a worker s hands, if dermal exposure from industrial chemicals or pesticides is suspected. [Pg.448]

FIG URE 37.5 TEWL after harsh washing. Washing of forearm skin leads to barrier damage characterized by increased TEWL. The improved TEWL probes allow to discriminate between products with different content of surfactants. Barrier damage was more pronounced on areas treated with higher concentration of surfactants. Repair is fast, stop of treatment for one day (day 4 and 9) leads to reduced TEWL readings the next day. [Pg.482]

Figure 3 Pipetting tip used for 384-channel parallel multidispensing of low-volume aliquots out of one aspiration. The structure of the liquid column in the tip is shown schematically. TAG stands for Trailing Air Gap . After dispensing of the last aliquot in the plate-replication cycle, each tip is washed from the inside and the outside with DMSO. The piston movement is used to accurately meter the small aliquots being dispensed. The piston also acts as a valve regulating the flow of system liquid through the tip for the DMSO flow-through wash. Washing of the outside of the tip is not shown... When the chain assembly is complete, remove the Boc group from the N-terminus of the peptide by a standard deprotection, using steps 1- of the above procedure. After three CH2CI2 washes, wash the resin with EtOH (3x), and use this solvent to transfer the resin to a fritted glass funnel. Then wash with CH2CI2 (3x) to swell the resin in preparation for cleavage of the peptide. [Pg.735]

Hybridization components such as SDS and SSC fluoresce and, unless washed from the slide surface prior to scanning, will cause diffuse low-level background. This background can be minimized by immediately spin-drying slides by low-velocity centrifugation after washing. Washing is based on standard hybridization protocols. [Pg.108]
