Warning Lights—Trailer Restraint

Not all trailers or trucks can be safely secured at docks. Trailers may not be equipped with ICC bars or the bar may be bent or missing. To mechanically secure these vehicles, a few new patented devices have been developed. For one specific unit, the process is as follows  [Pg.118]

The trailer or truck is backed up to a dock door that is equipped with a special restraint device. [Pg.118]

The vehicle backs over the low-profile sled in its low-profile stored position. [Pg.118]

When the sled makes contact with the tires, it is activated. [Pg.118]

Fully engaged, the device will secure a trailer against a 32,000 lb pullout force. [Pg.119]

Figure 6-1. With an automatic trailer restraint system, a red light warns the operator not to enter the trailer and a green light shows that it is safe to proceed. The restraint hooks onto the trailer s ICC bar. Figure 6-1.
