Shampoos and conditioners are among the safest consumer products sold today when used for their intended purpose and in the manner described on the package label. Cautionary eye warning labels appear on most medicated products and on some cosmetic brands, attesting to the fact that eye irritation can occur if some products accidentally drain or spill into the eyes. Warnings against internal consumption also appear on many shampoo labels and on a few creme rinses or hair conditioners nevertheless, many conditioners contain no cautionary warnings because they are mild and of such low toxicity. [Pg.305]

The label involved warned that the product was not to be inhaled, touched or taken internally. But the court was impressed with what it viewed as two overriding factors. First, on one side of the container was an extremely detailed set of instructions as to how, where, when and for what pvu -pose the product served as an insecticide. However, on the warning side there was no information as to how the product could be used safely-such as the need to use a respirator and protective clothing. [Pg.234]
