The gene coding for thymidine kinase (TK) is on mouse chromosomes number 11 

Each cell contains only one fonctional gene 

TK cells are killed by trifluorothymidine TK cells survive (thymidine monophosphate can be synthesized de novo via thymidylate synthetase, etc.)
