Since tetracyclines are commonly used as veterinary medicines and feed additives, a TLC method for analyzing TC, OTC, CTC, and DC in animal tissues and liver was developed (51). In this method 5 g samples were blended with 20,20, and 10 ml of 0.1 M Na2EDTA-Mcllvaine buffer pH 4.0 and centrifuged each time. The supernatants were applied to a pretreated C g cartridge, washed with 20 ml of water, air-dried for 5 min, and eluted with 10 ml of ethyl acetate followed by 20 ml of 2-propanol, and the residue dissolved in 0.1 ml of methanol. Then 1-10 xl of sample and standard solutions were spotted on a silica gel HPTLC plate with concentrating zone (Merck predeveloped with a saturated aqueous Na2EDTA solution) and 1-20 pi on an RP-8 plate (Merck). The solvents were (47), and 1 (48), respectively. [Pg.470]
