The coarser products may be produced relatively cheaply in a single pass through a beater mill fitted with an integral basket, which acts as a screen. Finer products are generally produced in tube mills and vertical roller mills [17.2]. In the latter case, a variable speed classifier is fitted above the mill to control the grading of the product, and recycle over-sized particles. 

Average power consumption was 120 kWh/t in 1978 by 1988, it had decreased to 103 kWh/t. Maximimized utilization to off peak period (night time) power, waste heat generator and development of vertical roller mill provided great power cost saving.

Ring-Roller Mill A machine for the comminution, or size reduction, of minerals. Such machines crush the input material between a stationary ring and vertical rollers revolving inside the ring. Particle sizes of as low as about 30 fim can be produced.
