Vanadium oxides, same as oxides of yet another metal with variable valence and also with intercalation ability in respect to lithium cations, have lately been widely studied for their application as an active material for positive electrodes in ECSCs (Chen and Wen, 2003). As a specific example of the correlations we have observed, our experimental results demonstrate that the reactions of vanadium and niobium oxide cluster cations with methanol lead to dehydrogenation of methanol under single collision conditions producing neutral formaldehyde [16].
