Vaginal products

Few, if any, products are administered via the vagina that are intended for systemic absorption. Thus, this route has not been as widely studied and characterized as others. On the other hand, large numbers of different products (douches, spermicides, antiyeast agents, etc.) have been developed that require introduction into the vagina in order to assert their localized effects. Increased research into different birth control and antiviral prophylaxis will result in more vaginal products in the future. All these must be assessed for vaginal irritation potential, and this serves as an example of the other tissue tolerance issues. 

Vaginal products Estradiol vaginal ring may not be suitable for women with narrow, short, or stenosed vaginas. Women with signs or symptoms of vaginal irritation should alert their physician. 

Avoid intercourse and use of vaginal products (tampons, douches) when using the vag cream or suppositories...

Tamper-resistant packaging is required on all liquid oral hygiene products and all cosmetic vaginal products if sold over the counter. Tamper-resistant packaging refers to a barrier or product that alerts the consumer to the fact that the product may have been tampered with. Must products have a breakable seal on the package and a statement on the product that advises the consumer that if the seal is broken the product may have been tampered with and that the consumer should not purchase the product.

When sold retail, some products like liquid oral hygiene products (e.g. mouthwashes, fresheners) and all cosmetic vaginal products (e.g. douches, tablets) must be packaged in tamper-resistant packages, which if breached or missing, alert a consumer that tampering has occurred.
