Using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy in polymer electrolyte research

AB B RENT, University of South Bohemia, Czech Republic, and S. GREENBAUM, Hunter College of the City University of [Pg.278]

Abstract The versatility and power of NMR spectroscopy to probe matter at the atomic level and the possibUity of achieving detailed knowledge and understanding about the dynamic processes governing ionic and segmental motion within polymer electrolyte materials will be described. Many examples of resnlts reported from different scientific groups active in the field of polymer electrolyte research will be presented. [Pg.278]

Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy measurements have been firmly established among techniques used for obtaining valuable information about chemical and physical properties in a wide variety of scientific fields from biology and medicine to chemistry and physics. [Pg.278]

The need for an efficient, compact and environmentally friendly energy storage source has led to the evolution of all solid battery systems that utilize electrolytes consisting of solid or at least non-leaking polymer materials. Properties of these are often compromises achieved by optimization of mechanical, dynamic and compatibility issues with addition of economic and environmental impact aspects. [Pg.279]

There have been many different approaches to this problem described in the literature, where the research moved from solid polymer (i.e. high molecular weight or cross linked electrolytes to polymer matrix hosting liquid electrolytes, gel electrolytes and later composites containing filler additives.  [Pg.279]
