United States Pharmacopeia initiatives

A. When developing a dissolution method, the design qualification is built into the apparatus selection process. The dosage form and delivery system process will dictate at least initially the equipment of choice. For example, the first choice for a beaded product may be United States Pharmacopeia (USP) Apparatus 3, which is designed to confine the beads in a screened-in cylinder. 

Standards established by the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) are accepted worldwide as the highest assurance of the quality of medicines and other products used to improve the health of the public. We discuss the development of the publication and the organization, and its current and future initiatives toward promotion of worldwide health.
