United Nations Serial Number

Fireworks that meet the requirements of BS7114 must also be included in a publication called the UK List of Classified and Authorised Explosives (LOCAL) and more recently by LOCAF (the UK List of Classified and Authorised Fireworks 1999). These lists originate from the Explosives Acts and relate to civilian rather than to military explosives. Thus, the 1994 edition of LOCAL contains articles ascribed to Kimbolton, Pains and Le Maitre. For example, included in the FIREWORKS columns, will be found STANDARD SET PIECE. For this particular entry, the United Nations Serial Number is given as 0336, the Hazard Code is 1.4G, the UK Class and Division is 7.2, while the Competent Authority (HSE) Reference is GB 72411. 

Upon receipt of a patent application, the PTO assigns the application a serial number and filing date. Shortly thereafter and if disclosure of the content of the application would not be detrimental to the national security, the PTO issues a foreign filing license, which allows the application to be filed in other countries (138). Thereafter, patent applications based on the United States patent application can be filed elsewhere in the world. 

The UN Number element of each chapter includes the 4-digit serial numbers assigned under the United Nations scheme that represent the entries covered in the chapter. Also included are the supplementary North American numbers (NA numbers, including those in the 9000 series) used by the DOT and the identification numbers (ID numbers in the 8000 series) used by lATA.
