UmuC genes

SAS, Salmonella typhimurium TA1535 + SO S/umuC"lacZ, umuC gene + NT 50 Oda et al. (1996)... [Pg.518]

The test is based on the capability of genotoxic agents to induce the umuC-gene in the Salmonella strain in response to genotoxic lesions in the DNA. The induction of the umuC-gene is thus a measure for the genotoxic potential of the sample. [Pg.131]

Bridges, B. A., and Woodgate, R. (1984). Mutagenic repair in Escherichia coli, X. The umuC gene product may be required for replication past pyrimidine dimers but not for the coding error in UV mutagenesis. Mol. Gen. Genet. 196, 364-366. [Pg.222]

BPDE-induced mutations in plasmid borne genes can be dependent on umuC (75) ... [Pg.340]

A pair of bacterial genes, called umuC and umuD have been implicated in error prone repair. After expression of the two genes, the umuD gene product undergoes proteolytic cleavage to give the UmuD protein. Two of these combine with UmuC (the protein product of umuC) to yield trimeric UmuD 2C. This trimeric complex may be the error prone polymerase. [Pg.1362]

McDonald, J. P., Levine, A. S., and Woodgate, R. (1997). The Saccharomyces cerevisiae RAD30 gene, a homologue of Escherichia coli dinB and umuC, is DNA damage inducible and functions in a novel error-free postreplication repair mechanism. Genetics 147, 1557-1568. [Pg.225]

Ohmori, H., Hatada, E., Qiao, Y, Tsuji, M., and Fukuda, R. (1995). dinP, a new gene in Escherichia coli, whose product shows similarities to UmuC and its homologues. Mutat. Res. 347, 1-7. [Pg.261]
