Ulcer of the duodenum

Postmortem examinations of persons who died as a result of exposure to H have shown depletion of lymphoid cells in the spleen, thymus, and other lymphatic organs depletion of hematopoietic cells of the bone marrow necrosis and desquamation of epithelium in the small intestine acute ulceration of the duodenum membranous laryn-gotracheobronchitls and pulmonary edema, congestion, and patchy emphysema that may be complicated by bronchopneumonia or other evidence of pulmonary infection.2>47... 

The recognition of the association of ulceration of the duodenum with specific circumstances, such as burns, was first attributed to Curling in 1841, who called attention to the connection between cases of burn and acute ulceration... 

The easy scalability of enantioselective HPLC can be demonstrated for the separation of omeprazole [29], one of the blockbuster drugs for the treatment of ulcers (see Fig. 17). The (S)-enantiomer, esomeprazole with the trade name Nexium, is used as an improved active pharmaceutical ingredient against inflammation and ulcers of the oesophagus (reflux oesophagitis), heartburn/ pyrosis (gastrooesophagal reflux), and ulcers of the duodenum after infection with helicobacter pylori.
