U.S. EPA ICP-MS Standard Operating Procedure for FGDW Samples

Draft of U.S. EPA ICP-MS Standard Operating Procedure for FGDW Samples [Pg.259]

This procedure is applicable to the determination of thirteen elements (Al, As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Pb, Mn, Ni, Se, Ag, Tl, V, and Zn) in acid digested FGDW, utilizing a collision/reaction cell to remove molecular interferences and internal standardization to compensate for suppression and enhancement effects caused by sample matrices. Let us take a closer look at this procedure. [Pg.259]

Sample preparation should be carried out as follows A 10-fold dilution of FGDW samples is followed by an open-vessel digestion in a block digester according to U.S. EPA Method 1638, Sections 12.2.1-12.2.7. The final acid concentration of samples, calibration standards, and blank should be approximately 2% HNO3 + 0.5% HCl. [Pg.260]
