Enantioselective cyclopropenation.2 This chiral rhodium(U) catalyst can effect highly enantioselective cyclopropenation of 1-alkynes with alkyl diazoacctates. The enantioselectivity increases with the steric size of the ester group, and the size and polarity of the alkyne substituent also affects the enantioselectivity. The highest selectivity is observed with d-menthyl diazoacetatcs as a result of double diastercosclection.
