However, it is preferable to think of accidents and incidents as part of a single, much larger, group of undesired events or circumstances which varies in two main dimensions. 

1 Qualitative differences of actual and potential outcomes, for example injuries, ill-health and damage. 

2 Quantitative differences in outcomes, for example minor injuries, major injuries and damage.
