Tuttle

By dehydrating guaiol, the sesquiterpene alcohol present in guaiac wood oil, Wallach and Tuttle obtained a bicyclic sesquiterpene which they called guaiene. It has been obtained by different methods by other observers from guaiol, and its characters are recorded as follows...

Rapid clearance from the plasma is indicated by its short half-life of approximately 2 minutes. Dobutamine is rapidly metabolized by methylation and conjugation to 3-0-methyldobutamine and conjugates of dobutamine. The major portion of the metabolites are excreted in the urine within the first 2 hours following infusion and the remainder within 6 hours. Metabolism and excretion in man are similar to the processes described above in the dog.
