Trihydrogen phosphate

The urea trihydrogen phosphate crystal structure [405] shown in Fig. 7.1, for example, possesses one very short, almost symmetrical C-OH 0 = P bond and one normal N(H)H 0=P bond. The latter hydrogen-bonding functional group is likely to be present in protein-nucleic acid interactions. 

Other reactions of monophosphates. Phosphoric acid (trihydrogen phosphate) reacts with the oxides and hydroxides of the alkalis and alkaline earths and with other freshly precipitated oxides and hydroxides except perhaps Sb203. It also decomposes all carbonates with release of CO2. Phosphates are formed in these reactions, but their compositions depend on the conditions. 

A linear relationship between isotropic 2H chemical shift (6H) and 0---0 distance (r0...o) has also been established [77] for several metal phosphates and minerals. Similarly, for carboxylic acid protons, SH has been shown [78] to depend linearly on r0...0, and for several trihydrogen selenites, SH was shown [79] to correlate linearly with r0...0 and rH...0 distances.
