Helmut Tributsch obtained his PhD degree in physical chemistry at the Technical University, Mnnich, in 1968, working with Heinz Gerischer, and snbseqnently continued research with Melvin Calvin at the University of Berkeley. For the next ten years he worked in different institutions inclnding Stanford University, the CNRS in Paris and the Fritz-Haber Institute in Berlin. Since 1982, he has been Professor of Physical Chemistry at the Free University in Berlin and head of the department at the Hahn-Meitner Institute specialising in research on sustainable energy systems. [Pg.778]
