Figure 19.6. Illustration of dynamic density functional theory simulations of the effects of applying a steady shear to a 55% aqueous solution of the Pluronic L64 triblock copolymer surfactant (ethylene oxide) (propylene oxidej- /ethylene oxide)13 [96]. The mesosphases are shown at different times during the simulation. In agreement with experimental results, the hexagonal lattice forms with one lattice vector perpendicular to the plane of shear. [Pg.702]

CO2 modified with a methanol/dichloromethane mixture and showed that the template extracted in this manner could be re-used for further syntheses of mesoporous silica. Treatment with supercritical CO2 alone leads to pore swelling with retention of mesostructural ordering in 2D hexagonal phase silica triblock copolymer surfactant composites. Pore swelling with supercritical CO2 has also been observed for materials templated with fluorinated surfactants. ... [Pg.81]

Pore size in EISA materials can be adjusted by changing the size of the surfactant micelles with both small cationic surfactants and larger nonionic triblock copolymer surfactants used to prepare films. While triblock copolymer surfactants of the EO-PO-EO family can be used to make... [Pg.101]

TS-l meso silica Core shell MFI TEOT TEOS Triblock copolymer surfactant P123 (EO20PO70EO20, Mw — 5800) TS-1 is added to the solution mixture and the resulting suspension is vigorously stirred and ultrasonicated 70-100 °C, 24 h Peng, 2012 (15)... [Pg.18]

Fig. 5. (a) Photograph of highly concentrated CO2-U1-water (C/W) emulsion (97%, v/v, CO2) stabihzed by a triblock copolymer surfactant. A water-soluble dye, methyl orange, was included in the aqueous phase, (b) Emulsion-templated poly(acrylamide) material synthesized by polymerization of a concentrated CAV emulsion (90%, v/v, CO2) stabihzed with a diblock surfactant [45]. This synthetic strategy is based on the formation of direct micelles of Pluronic FI 27 in water. Pluronic FI 27 is a non-ionic triblock copolymer surfactant terminating in primary hydroxyl groups, and presenting a poly(ethylene glycol)-poly (propylene oxide)-poly(ethylene glycol) structure (PEG-PPO-PEG, MW 12600), that is relatively non-toxic. [Pg.108]

Fig. 17 Glucose concentration gradient measurements on (A) FDU-15 and (B) FDU-16 with 10% binders (from top to bottom PHBMA ( ), PTBMA ( ), PPMA ( ) binder and pristine SPE (O) as control). Mesoporous carbons were synthesized by organic-organic self-assembly of a triblock copolymer surfactant, Pluronic F127 (PE0106-PP070-PEO106, BASF). Phenol/formaldehyde/NaOH/F127 = 1 2 0.1 0.012 (FDU-15) and phe-nol/formaldehyde/NaOH/F127 = 1 2 0.1 0.006 (FDU-16). Reproduced from Dai et a/. with permission of publisher.
