Transition metal compounds nitrido

Stretching frequencies and force constants for the M=P bond have been derived from Raman spectroscopic data for compounds [(N3N)Mo=P] (4a) and [(N3N)W=P] (4b), as well as for related nitrido and arsenido complexes [30]. For W=E (E = N, P, As), force constants were shown to decrease with increasing M=E bond length, while for each respective pnicogenido ligand E, the force constant for the W complex was greater than that of the Mo complex, a trend also reflected in literature data for transition metal nitrido and 0X0 complexes [20]. [Pg.8]

The N—N bonds of N2 can be cleaved at room temperature on interaction with some 3-coordinate transition metal complexes6 having bulky ligands. The planar molybdenum complex, Mo(NR R")3, R = C(CD3)2Me, R" = 3,5-C6H3Me2, designated M0L3, appears to react as follows to give a nitrido compound. [Pg.315]

There also exist structural similarities between the MeN clusters and the class of solid-state compounds known as transition metal nitrides. In these refractory compounds the nitrogen exists in either an octahedral or a trigonal prismatic array of transition metals 125). The interest in using transition metal nitrides for superconducting thin films as well as chemically inert coatings (i25) should promote studies in which nitrido clusters could be used as starting materials for the synthesis of new refractory materials. [Pg.82]

A review has described transition metal nitrides.53 The majority of Ti nitrido compounds have been stabilized by somewhat sterically encumbering organometallic ligands.54"5 However, (Ti((Pr1NCH2CH2)3N))2(/r3-N)Na(THF) (4) was unexpectedly synthesized by the reaction of ClTi(Pr1NCH2CH2)3N)3 and Na[NH2] in THF. Structural evidence supports Ti—N 7r bonding.57... [Pg.35]

Because of their catalytic activities, 0x0 and nitrido complexes of transition metals are a well-investigated class of compounds. ° > There are many experimental values of the geometries and vibrational spectra available, which makes 0x0 and nitrido complexes amenable to comparison with theo-... [Pg.63]
