Transition Metal Alkyl and Alkenyl Complexes

Transition Metal Alkyl and Alkenyl Complexes [Pg.122]

Relatively few examples of r-bonded r -alkyl or alkenyl metal trifluorophosphine complexes of formula [MRx(PF3)y are known (see Table XVI). [Pg.122]

Alkyltetrakis(trifluorophosphine)cobalt complexes can be prepared from the anion [Co(PF3)4] only with strong alkylating agents because of the low nucleophilicity of the anion (method A). Thus, treatment of [Co(PF3)4] with an oxonium salt yields [Me30] [Co(PF3)4], which on heating gives the desired product. [Pg.122]

An alternative route utilizes the reaction between the appropriate hydrido-metal PF3 complex with diazomethane at low temperatures, followed by pyrolysis of the resulting salt (method B). [Pg.122]

Good yields of certain rhodium(III) perfluoroalkyl derivatives have been obtained in oxidative addition reactions of perfluoroalkyl iodides (R I) with rhodium (I) trifluorophosphine complexes (method C). [Pg.122]
