Total systems approach to laboratory automation

There is no question that by coupling an automated, multimode sample handling and delivery system with an ICP-mass spectrometer, many of the problems associated with the traditional ultratrace determination of elements in seawater can be avoided. In addition, because this approach requires very little sample preparation and is totally automated and extremely fast, it is well suited to the high-throughput demands of environmental contract laboratories. It should also be noted that even though the data shown here were generated using one commercial ICP-MS system, there is no reason to believe that this automated sample delivery approach could not work as well on any other vendor s equipment. [Pg.268]
