Tobacco chloroplast isolation from

His-tagged GUS-fusion proteins have been produced and isolated from tobacco chloroplasts. His-tagged proteins have also been extracted by foam frachonahon (Crofcheck et al., 2003,2004) or by a modihed intein expression system (Morassutti et al., 2002). 

Approximately 5 000 naturally abundant acyclic and cyclic diterpenes derived from the parent hydrocarbon phytane are known The (3i ,7i ,ll )-enantiomer of phy-tane has been found in meteorites, oil slate, other sediments and, last but not least, in human liver. Oil slate additionally eontains (-)-(3if,7if,llif)-phytanoic acid which has also been isolated from butter. 1,3(20)-Phytadiene is one among many constituents of tobacco Nicotiana tabacum (Solanaceae) -1,3-phytadiene and its (%)-isomer are found in zooplankton. Chlorophyll in the chloroplasts of plant cells exemplifies an ester of +)-(lE,lR, l/ )-2-phyten-l-ol usually referred to as phytol. 2,6,10,14-Phytatetraene-l,19-diol, better known as plaunotol, is the ehief constituent of the leaves of flie Thai medicinal plant Croton sublyratus (Euphorbiaceae) used as "plau noi" or "kelnac" as an antiulcerative. 

Tobacco. In selectivity assays tobacco ATI discriminates aginast 16 0 in the synthesis of LPA (see Figure 1), and this bias is reflected here in the PA pool of chloroplasts (Table 3). In direct contrast to this obvious selectivity by ATI (and, again, possibly AT2) is the observation that the newly synthesized PG and DG pools from isolated tobacco chloroplasts are relatively enriched in di-saturated species in comparison with the PA pool. This indicates to us that the bias of AT 1 for 18 1 at sn-1 is partially overridden by a preference for di-saturated species by the headgroup enzymes.
