Thrushes

Generally, inhaled glucocorticoids have few side effects, the appearance of which depends on the dose, the frequency of administration, and the delivery system used. The most common side effect is dysphonia (hoarseness), which affects approximately one third of treated patients. Oropharyngeal candidiasis (thrush)... [Pg.541]

Administration may result in a hypersensitivity-type reaction that includes rash and urticaria Nausea, vomiting, oral thrush, diarrhea, and headache also may be seen. [Pg.132]

We have developed a system based on SNOW-MED to extract medical information from herbal texts. SNOW-MED is a semantic index that recognizes relationships between groups of words [26], For example, the semantic map for thrush is related to yeast, infection, and microbe. Although this system may eventually allow a potential pharmacological function to be extrapolated, we are currently using the system to simply extract disorders from the text. We have used the Mayo Vocabulary Server to perform this data mining [34, 35]. [Pg.114]

Nystatin has a specific action on C. albicans and is of no value in the treatment of any other type of infection. It is poorly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract even after very large doses, the blood level is insignificant. It is administered orally in the treatment of oral thrush and intestinal candidiasis infections. [Pg.114]

Monitor the patient for complications related to antibiotic therapy (e.g., diarrhea or oral thrush) during and after completion of HP eradication therapy. [Pg.279]

Monitor the patient for the development of potential complications of treatment such as delayed hypersensitivity reactions, antibiotic-induced diarrhea, pseudomembraneous colitis, or fungal superinfections (manifested as oral thrush). [Pg.1137]

This patient has the subjective symptoms of weight loss, decreased appetite, shortness of breath, and cough. Abnormal laboratory values include elevated temperature, decreased hemoglobin and hematocrit, and decreased CD4 count. Chest x-ray shows diffuse interstitial infiltrates bilaterally. Physical exam reveals thrush. The assessment is possible AIDS with CD4 count of 150 cells/mm3, thrush, a respiratory illness (possibly Pneumocystis jiroveci pneumonia), and anemia of chronic disease. He also has a history of hepatitis B, hypertension, and GERD (on famotidine), poor adherence to his anti hypertensive medications, and likely has an irregular daily regimen due to his occupation as a truck driver. [Pg.1275]

Then the priest and his boy took themselves off, and we walked back through the woods with every thrush and linnet and skylark in the world tossing its song to the sunrise. [Pg.155]

Pesticides accumulate in fetal cells and reproductive organs in mammals, birds, and fish due to biochemical processes. This is noted especially often for OCPs, which were observed in large amounts (up to 6.8 mg/kg) in, for example, the sexual organs of hares, rabbits, pheasants, green-winged teals, and in white-eyed and red-headed ducks. They were found in animal embryos, as well as in black thrush eggs and in pheasant embryos and amniotic fluid (up to 73.0 mg/kg) [3]. [Pg.104]

The rate constant for formation of excited-state S02 was measured by Halstead and Thrush to be 1.7 X 10 12 exp(-2100/T) cm3 molec1 s 1 [28-31], while the overall rate constant for the loss of SO is 3.6 x 10 12 exp(-1100/T) cm3 molec-1 s 1 [11], Thus, at room temperature, S02 constitutes —1.6% of the product channels. This figure can only be considered approximate, however, since mixing of states within the singlet manifold affects the interpretation of the rate constant for formation of the excited state [32],... [Pg.357]

The emission spectrum consists of a series of weak bands starting at about 220 nm and then growing into a continuum from about 240 to 400 nm, with a maximum at approximately 270 nm as shown in Figure 5. Halstead and Thrush estimated that =65% of the emission occurs from the B2 state, =15% from the 3B3, and =20% from a combination of the A2 and Bi states [24, 28, 29] with a rate constant of 2 X 1CT31 cm6 molec 2 s 1 using argon as the bath gas at 300 K [53], As with the reaction of SO + 03 discussed above, collisional coupling results in a radiative lifetime that is pressure dependent. [Pg.362]
