Thorium amide

The reported thorium amides, imides, and related double salts are listed in Table 13. There has been no recent publication dealing with thorium tetramide (see Thorium 1955, pp. 242/3). [Pg.60]

Thorium compounds of anionic nitrogen-donating species such as [Th(NR2)4], where R = alkyl or sdyl, are weU-known. The nuclearity is highly dependent on the steric requirements of R. Amides are extremely reactive, readily undergoing protonation to form amines or insertion reactions with CO2, COS, CS2, and CSe2 to form carbamates. Tetravalent thorium thiocyanates have been isolated as hydrated species, eg, Th(NCS)4(H20)4 [17837-16-0] or as complex salts, eg, M4 Th(NCS)g] vvH20, where M = NH, Rb, or Cs. [Pg.38]

Phosphine Chalcogenides as Ligands. - The complexation of lanthanide and actinide ions by phosphine oxide ligands remains an active area, and a theoretical assessment of the coordination of phosphine oxides (and phosphate esters) by trivalent lanthanide ions has appeared." Trivalent lanthanide complexes of the functionalised enol phosphine oxide (265), (and a related phosphonate), have been describedComplexes of thorium(iv) with bis(di-phenylphosphino) ethane dioxide and bis(diphenylphosphinoyl)amide have also been characterised." Calixarene systems which bear phosphine oxide... [Pg.36]

The monochlorotris-silylamides, [(Me3Si)3N]3MCI, of the two most readily accessible actinide elements, thorium and uranium, have been prepared by reaction of three molar equivalents of sodium bis(trimethylsilyl)amide and the metal chloride in tetrahydrofuran. The thorium derivative is a colorless, diamagnetic, pentane soluble compound which is rtionomeric in the gas phase (by mass spectrometry) (19, 20). The tan uranium analogue is paramagnetic (yB = 2.8 B.M.) (20). [Pg.39]
