Thorium Amides and Imides

Chemistry Division, Atomic Energy Research Establishment, [Pg.60]

The reported thorium amides, imides, and related double salts are listed in Table 13. There has been no recent publication dealing with thorium tetramide (see Thorium 1955, pp. 242/3). [Pg.60]

The diamideimide Th(NH)(NH2)2 is reported to precipitate when potassium amide is added to a solution of the hexanitrato complex K2Th(N03)e in anhydrous liquid ammonia at -10°C [1]. [Pg.60]

The imidenitride Th2N2(NH) is obtained by heating thorium metal powder in ammonia (2500 to 5500 atm) at 400 to 550°C for 24 to 96 h [2,4] and by the thermal decomposition of Th(NH)2 [2]. A second imidenitride, Th3N2(NH)3, is reported to form when ThNI or ThNBr mixed with NaNH2 is heated with KN3 in ammonia (350°C, 6000 atm, 650 h). The product also contained Th2N2(NH) [2]. [Pg.60]

Unit Cell Dimensions and Densities for Thorium Amides and Imides. [Pg.61]

The various thorium(IV) amides and imides are readily hydrolysed [1 to 3]. [Pg.62]
