Thor Lake

Thor lake is located in the Northwest Territories of Canada, situated 5 km north of the Heame Channel of the Great Slave Lake, and approximately 100 km east-southeast of Yellowknife. The location is given in Fig. 2.13 (Avalon Rare Metals 2015a). [Pg.35]

The Nechalacho deposit (Thor Lake) is located at the Southern Margin of the Archaean Slave Province of the Canadian Shield. It is centered within the Blachford Igneous Complex, which consists of rocks of an early suite of gabbro, quartz syenite and granite, and a later suite of granite, with a core of syenite (Thor Lake syenite). The early suite is relatively aluminous, whereas the rocks of the later suite [Pg.35]

Avalon Rare Metals Inc., which owns the Nechalacho deposit, has completed a feasibility study on the deposit, which appears to be enriched in the heavy rare earths (HREEs) (Avalon Rare Metals 2015b, c). [Pg.36]

The estimated measured mineral resources in the base case now stand at 12.56 million tons averaging 1.71 % TREO, 0.38 % HREO and 22.5 % HREO/TREO (Avalon Rare Metals 2015c). [Pg.36]


This hydroxamate is selective towards calcite, fluorite and sericite. The yttrium group minerals that contain zircon also have highly complex mineral compositions.
