Thinking, impaired

Increased breathing volume, accelerated heartbeat, impaired attention and thinking, impaired coordination. [Pg.83]

COMMENT The main point that 1 wanted to make is that it is very important to attempt to develop models where one is looking at least at some sort of in vivo integrated preparation. We look at serotonin depletion. We look at dopamine depletion. We have a variety of different mechanisms. Again we really do not know what, at this point in time, the serotonin depletion is doing. I think 1 know what it means if you deplete dopamine beyond a certain level. But even there, it is difficult to put an exact degree of impairment on the levels of dopamine depletion that we see in most of these models. [Pg.337]

Dementia An organic mental disorder characterized by a general loss of intellectual abilities involving impairment in memory, judgment, and abstract thinking, as well as changes in personality. [Pg.1564]

I advanced this idea at a conference a few years later, but it fell on deaf ears. It seemed impossible to convince commanders that mild impairment of the enemy would make it possible to prevail militarily while limiting enemy casualties. I was sometimes discouraged about the seeming frequency of such disconnects between medical and military thinking. [Pg.133]

Cluster A Personality Disorders (Schizotypal PD, Schizoid PD, Paranoid PD). These are the odd and eccentric personality disorders. They all share certain features in common with schizophrenia, but schizotypal PD in particular appears to be most closely related to schizophrenia. The schizophrenia-like symptoms of these personality disorders (e.g., magical thinking, paranoia, social withdrawal) are less severe and generally don t impair social or employment function as severely as schizophrenia. [Pg.106]

Cermakian We have done almost the reverse experiments with fibroblast implants from Clock l mutants whose clock is quite impaired. When we put these fibroblast implants into mice whose SCN is functional, the SCN was not able to entrain them. So I don t think that a grafted SCN will be able to entrain peripheral tissues of these Crj double mutants. [Pg.71]

May cause dizziness, drowsiness, or impaired thinking avoid tasks that require mental alertness or motor skills until response to the drug is established drowsiness usually diminishes with continued therapy... [Pg.1246]

Of particular importance in the geriatric patient Delirium, confusion, cognitive impairment, ataxia, impaired concentration, dizziness, fatigue, paresthesias, slowed thinking and speech, worsen ng memory, nausea, anorexia, weight loss, renal stones (dose-related)... [Pg.1246]

Douglas, V. Barr. R, Desilets, J. and Sherman, E. (1995) Do high doses of stimulants impair flexible thinking in attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder J. Am Acad Child Adolesc Psychiatry 34 877-885. [Pg.461]

Laryngeal reflexes are not markedly impaired but it is a mistake to think that they remain intact. Radiopaque dye has been aspirated by supine patients given ketamine 2 mg-kg-1. [Pg.89]

The Spleen is associated with the ability to study and think. If the Spleen is covered by dampness, individuals may suffer from poor concentration, an inability to study and have impaired memory. When the clear Qi of the Spleen is unable to ascend to support the Heart, one may have difficulty in observation and reactions. [Pg.102]
