Thermodynamic equilibrium melting temperature of polymer crystals

2 Thermodynamic Equilibrium Melting Temperature of Polymer Crystals [Pg.74]

The thermodynamic equilibrium melting point of polymer crystals can be measured by means of DSC and small-angle X-ray diffraction. The following procedure is recommended for the measurement of the equilibrium melting temperature of a polymer crystal, [Pg.74]

Calibrate the DSC instrument with temperature and heat flow scales following standard procedures. [Pg.74]

Place 8 2 mg of sample in a DSC vessel and quickly heat to a temperature T (T T ), which is held for about 10 min in order to erase all previous thermal and mechanical history. [Pg.74]

Quench the sample (at a rate of 200 °C min , if possible) to the predetermined crystallization temperature T.  [Pg.74]
