Complexes. The structure of an n a charge-transfer complex between quinoxaline and two iodine atoms has been obtained by X-ray analysis and its thermal stability compared with those of related complexes. The hydrogen bond complex between quinoxaline and phenol has been studied by infrared spectroscopy and compared with many similar complexes. Adducts of quinoxaline with uranium salts and with a variety of copper(II) alkano-ates have been prepared, characterized, and studied with respect to IR spectra or magnetic properties, respectively. [Pg.94]

As part of a multi-technique investigation (see also discussion under mid-infrared spectroscopy later), Corrales et al. [13] plotted the carbonyl index for films prepared from three grades of polyethylenes a high-density PE (HDPE), a linear low-density PE (LLDPE) and a metallocene PE (mPE) (see Figure 5). The photochemical and thermal stabilities of Ru complexes have been investigated in detail [8,153-156]. For example, it has been reported that the NCS ligand of the N3 dye, cri-Ru(II)(dcbpy)2(NCS)2 (dcbpy = 2,2 -bipyridyl-4,4 -dicarboxylic acid), is oxidized to produce a cyano group (—CN) under irradiation in methanol solution. It was measured by both ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) absorption spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) [8,153]. In addition, the intensity of the infrared (IR) absorption peak attributed to the NCS ligand starts to decrease at 135°C, and decarboxylation of N3 dyes occurs at temperatures above 180°C [155]. The possibilities of application of far-UV circular dichroism (CD) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy in analysis of thermal stability of proteins and structural changes within protein molecules as well in explanation of cross reactivity between food allergens have been described in more detail in Section 3.4. Effect of thermostabilizers on the polymer properties was studied by different physicochemical methods. For example, in the work [260] method of DSS (differential spectroscopy) was used to define the effect of polyester-imide on thermo-physical properties of PETP. By this method it was found out that polyester-imide reduces PETP ability to crystallization. Methods of thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and infrared spectroscopy in the nitrogen atmosphere were used in the work [261] to define thermal stability of the mixture of PETP and polyamide with the additive - modifier - polyethylene. It has been found that introduction of the additive decreases activation energy which positively tells on the ability of PETP to thermal destruction. [Pg.114]

Mesoporous alumina samples have been synthesized using poly(ethylene oxide)-based nonionic surfactants. The effect that the addition of n-alkylamines to the synthesis gel has on the texture and thermal stability of mesoporous aluminas is studied.
