Thermal carbons

Photolytic nitrogen extrusion from tetrazoline derivatives (283) and (284) permits further syntheses of diaziridin-ones (285a) and -imines (285b) respectively (75AG(E)428). Thermal carbon dioxide extrusion from a five-membered precursor can also give a diaziridinimine (75JOC3112). [Pg.232]

Interestingly, in the inverse-electron-demand Diels-Alder reactions of oxepin with various enophiles such as cyclopentadienones and tetrazines the oxepin form, rather than the benzene oxide, undergoes the cycloaddition.234 236 Usually, the central C-C double bond acts as dienophile. Oxepin reacts with 2,5-dimethyl-3,4-diphenylcyclopenta-2,4-dienone to give the cycloadduct 6 across the 4,5-C-C double bond of the heterocycle.234 The adduct resists thermal carbon monoxide elimination but undergoes cycloreversion to oxepin and the cyclopenta-dienone.234... [Pg.52]

Among the 9 million tons of carbon black which are produced globally per year, only a small fraction of very specific, high-purity conductive carbon blacks can be used as conductive additive in lithium-ion batteries. A traditional conductive carbon is acetylene black, a special form of a thermal black produced by the thermal decomposition of hydrocarbon feedstock.74-75 The particularity of acetylene black to other thermal carbon black production is that the starting hydrocarbon, acetylene, exothermally decomposes above 800°C.75-77 Once the reaction is started, the acetylene decomposition autogenously provides the energy required for the cracking of acetylene to carbon followed by the synthesis of the carbon black ... [Pg.273]

We show in Figures 2 file adsorption isotherm of argon on graphitized thermal carbon black at a number of temperatures. The symbols in the figure are experimental data [13]. [Pg.5]

Additional evidence of the importance of adsorption of basic molecules on nonacidic sites at room temperature has been given by Derkaui and coworkers. These researchers studied the adsorption of triethylamine on silica between 294 and 486 K (71,94) and the adsorption of triethylamine, benzene, cyclohexane, and isooctane on graphitized thermal carbon black between 293 and 383 K (95). [Pg.178]

In another, relatively new, development, a high purity thermal carbon black was used as a component of an adhesive lining used in the construction of solid-fuel rocket motors and space shuttle motors. [Pg.783]

As carbon source, high-purity carbon black is mostly used and, more rarely, graphite, due to its higher price and lower reactivity. Thermal carbon black is preferred to flame... [Pg.324]

The retention volume has been reported377 for triethyl and tetraethyl silanes on columns packed with silanized Chromosorb W supporting 20% of Apiezon L or 15% of Carbowax 20 M and operated at 120 and 90 °C, respectively, using helium as carrier gas and thermal conductivity or flame ionisation detection. Measurements were also carried out by gas-solid chromatography on columns of Carbochrom-1 (graphitized thermal carbon black with 0.1% of Apiezon L) or Silochrom C-80. [Pg.424]
