The term thermal properties is open to more than one interpretation. Specific heat, thermal conductivity and diffusivity clearly come under this heading but the term can be taken to also include heat ageing, low temperature tests and fire resistance. However, these are more properly dealt with, as in this volume, under Effect of Temperature. Thermal analysis is a group of techniques in which a property of a sample is monitored against temperature, or time at a temperature, and, therefore, is also generally concerned with measuring the effect of temperature. Nevertheless, for convenience, a brief overview of thermal analysis is given here. [Pg.275]

IR and Raman spectra of ofloxacin and levofloxacin were measured and evaluated [06SA(A)159]. Saccharin salt of ofloxacin was prepared and characterized by FTIR, X-ray powder diffraction, thermal analysis, and and 13C NMR spectroscopy in solution and in solid state (09JPS3788). Nondestructive discrimination between levofloxacin and ofloxacin containing tablets was achieved by using diffusion reflectance NIR spectroscopy (08PHA628). [Pg.47]

This monograph provides an introduction to scanning ther-moanalytical techniques such as differential thermal analysis (DTA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dilatometry, and thermogravimetric analysis (TG). Elevated temperature pyrometry, as well as thermal conductivity/diffusivity and glass viscosity measurement techniques, described in later chapters, round out the topics related to thermal analysis. Ceramic materials are used predominantly as examples, yet the principles developed should be general to all materials. [Pg.1]
