The intrinsic view

The intrinsic view may be the more basic research-oriented one. This view on bioinformatics tends to produce reasonably well-defined and timeless scientific problems that often have the character of grand challenges. As described above, we will structure this view of bioinformatics in layers of derived information that we add on top of the primary information provided by the genomic sequence.
