The Human Gene Map

Information about the map location of individual ESTs is provided by UniGene. If an STS exists for an EST in the cluster, the map position of that STS is indicated in the record. This data may confirm what is already known about the location of a

A human gene in a somatic cell hybrid can also be detected and mapped without being expressed at the cellular level, e. g. by restriction enzyme digestion of DNA from the hybrid, followed by Southern blotting and detection of the human gene with a radioactively labeled probe, or by identifying primers which can be used in the Polymerase chain reaction (see) to amplify specifically the human and not the mouse gene.
