ABSTRACT Carbon fiber is structural and corrosion-resistant material which is necessary for development and progress of the world. The conceptions, categories, characteristics of carbon fiber are introduced in this paper and the application of carbon fiber in oil gas field is also summarized, which is of great significance. [Pg.95]

Carbon fiber not only is very important material for the promotion of human progress and social civilization (He, 2004), but also is a necessary structural and corrosion-resistant material for the development of space technology and strategic weapons. At present, most Chinese oilfields are in mid-later development period, and the application of carbon fiber is gradually widening in oil gas fields. [Pg.95]

Carbon fiber is brittle material made from organic fibers through a series of heat treatment and contains carbon content of more than 90%. When the carbon content is over 99%, this type of carbon fiber is called graphite fiber. Carbon fiber has excellent properties of carbon element, such as low density, good heat resistance and exeeUent thermal expansion coefficient, thermal conductivity coefficient, good corrosion resistance and electrical conductivity and so on. At the same time, it is also soft like fiber, and can be weaving and winding. [Pg.95]
