This paper describes work to estabhsh the levels of LAS in sludge amended soil from a large number of fields from farms in the Thames Water Authority (TWA) area, U K. The data obtained are compared with the calculated levels based on known sludge application rates to establish the removal of the total LAS added by spreading sludge. In addition, data is presented to demonstrate the rapid disappearance of LAS from soil with time at selected sites following three different sludge application practices.

This chapter describes an approach to overcoming the barriers inherent when several organizations are joined together. The solution was a partnership between the new company and a third-party provider to whom Thames Water turned to solve supply chain integration problems. 

Connect 2020 is part of a comprehensive initiative to develop strategies for the future requirement of Thames Water domestically and internationally, implementing the structures to succeed in such strategies and developing ongoing efforts in operational enhancement.
