Tetra-n-butyl-titanate

Sheldon et al. [2] have shown that in the epoxidation of olefins with TBH, compounds like titanium acetylacetonate or tetra-n-butyl titanate containing Ti(IV) produce epoxides with extremely high selectivities (98%), even though the rate of reaction is generally lower with respect to Mo(VI) or V(V) catalysts.

The esterification reactions are catalysed usually by titanates, tetra-n-butyl ti-tanate being the most preferred. However large number of other catalysts are known, and as examples zinc acetate [88], cerium and vanadium octoate [89] and litharge [90] are mentioned here. The imide forming reaction needs no catalyst.
